Re: Construction Noise at Dixon High School
Date: May 18, 2018
As you know there are a lot of sounds that occur while contractors are working on our building. Starting today, May 18th 2018, and possibly every day through the next several weeks, you may hear a sound that mimics a single gun-shot. Given the recent incident at Dixon High School we are very aware of concerns for this type of sound and wanted you to know and be prepared.
The noise comes from a tool that will be attaching wood to a steel lintel above the windows. This work will not start until after 4:00 p.m. today and may start earlier in the day beginning next Wednesday, May 23rd. This type of window work will not be done during school hours. There is no safety concern when using this tool, but it may startle someone who is not expecting it.
Local Law Enforcement along with 911 operators have been made aware of the possibility of this noise. We wanted to notify staff, students and community members of this construction noise to minimize the reaction when this work begins.
We appreciate your understanding of the construction noise and will make every effort to keep the use of this tool to a minimum.
