October 6th, 2017
The Board of Education and Administration of Dixon Public Schools #170 unveiled the James A. Wiltz Auditorium plaque at 10:30 a.m. today. Mr. Wiltz along with his family were in attendance, along with various community members, staff, and former students. Mrs. Empen, DPS #170 Superintendent, thanked the family, staff, board members, and community for attending today's ceremony.
"Educators don't get into education for awards and recognition. We do it because we love kids, believe we can make a difference in the lives of children, and believe in the power of education to change lives. To be remembered and honored by your students, fellow staff members, and community is the epitome of what an educator can hope for. On June 29, 2017 when the Dixon Public School Board of Education passed the resolution officially naming this the James A. Wiltz Auditorium, and today October 6, 2017, when we unveil the plaque in your honor, we hope you know Mr. Wiltz the profound and lasting legacy you have bestowed on Dixon High School and its students."
Dixon Public Schools is profoundly grateful for the generosity by an anonymous donor for the plaque unveiled today.
We hope to have a video of the dedication online soon.
