Principals’ Report:  7th grade field trip will be rescheduled to April; New parent permission slips will be going out. Physicians Immediate Care expressed interest in sponsoring Movie Night and setting up informational table at event.

Old Business:  PTO Movie Night will be on Friday February 10, 2017 @ DHS Auditorium.

The Good Dinosaur will be the movie that will be playing. Doors open at 6:00, Movie will start at 6:30. Popcorn and water will be for sale.

Spring Fundraisers: Fannie Mae Candies and Wooden Spoon Cookie Dough. Kick off date 02/22/2016 and run through 03/08/2016. Delivery Date of 04/06/2016.

Valentine Parties: will take place on 02/14/2017.

New Business:

Teacher Appreciation Week:  is May 1st thru May 5th. Lunch will be provided to all staff on Tuesday May 2nd. Sandwiches will again be provided by Arbor.

Spring Pictures: Elementary Schools on 03/30/2017, RMS on 03/29/2017

Battle of the Books:  Will take place on 04/04/2017 @ 6:30 pm volunteers are appreciated.

Spring Book Fairs:  (BOGO) RMS/Madison 04/27/2017 thru 05/05/2017, Jefferson 05/08/2017 thru 05/12/2017, Washington March 03/06/2017 thru 03/10/2017 with Family Night on 03/09/2017.

Principals’ Report:   Teacher Luncheon Appreciated, Health Jam @ KSB on 10/20/16 and 10/21/2016, 4th grade Architectural Tour went well with a few changes / Tour guides specialize in specific spots vs being in multiple spots.

Welcome and Introductions: President Carol Jimenez called the meeting to order at 7 pm and welcomed everyone to the 2016-2017 PTO. Officers and school representatives were introduced. For the 2016-2017 school year, the officers and school representatives are listed below.

Principals’ Report: The first week of school has gone good.

Old Business: All financial requests/ invoices MUST be turned in BEFORE a check will be issued. The Principal must also sign the invoice. This is for book keeping purposes. All Field trip requests must be submitted NO later than the October 17th PTO meeting date.

New Business:

1. Volunteer sign-up sheets were sent out to parents in Wednesday packets. Parents, please sign up to help your child and his/her teacher by volunteering this school year. Volunteers will be assigned and notified of their duties by the school representatives.

2. Elementary Picture Day will be on September 15th (grades pre-K through 5th) RMS is on August 24th.

3. Room Parents will be assigned by classroom teachers; if assistance is needed teachers will contact school representatives.

4. Parties were discussed, dates are as follows: Halloween 10/28/16, Holiday 12/22/16, Valentines 02/14/17.

5. Leydig Center Appreciation Meals, PTO has had volunteers provide twice yearly meals to the Leydig Center staff (Oct, April). There is a need for a volunteer to coordinate the meals this year.

6. Fall Book Fairs; Jefferson/ Washington will be from 09/19/16 thru 09/23/16 with Washington running from 5:00 to 7:30 pm on 09/23/2016. RMS/Madison will be 10/11/2016 thru 10/18/2016 ending at noon.

7. Fall Fundraiser: Dates to be sold will be from 10/12/2016 thru 10/26/2016 with delivery date of 11/16/2016. Items to be sold will be Butter braids and either Frontier Soups or Coffee.

8. Discussion was had on having administration/ teachers give a 5-1o minute “Hot Topic information” educational presentation at the beginning of every PTO meeting.

Funding Requests:

1. 3rd grade transportation to Stewardship Day at Lowell Park, amount requested was $535.04 for 4 buses to transport from Jefferson School to Lowell Park. This request was APPROVED by all members present, none opposed.

2. Battle of the Books for Madison School, Requested was a set of 20 books per classroom for a total of 320 books total from Books on First for grand total of $2,224.40.

Dixon PTO Meeting

April 18, 2016

President Carol Jimenez called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

There were nine members present: Carol Jimenez, Brenda Brown, Sue Nag, Kara Newcomer, Joey Sagel, Heidi Beaugard-Eberhardt, Laura Ely, Mandy Dallas, and Darla Foulker.

Treasurer’s Report: There was no new treasurer’s report available for this meeting, but President Jimenez reviewed the current balance and outstanding expenses.

Principals' Reports: Mr. Sagel reported that the Battle of the Books at Madison was a great success; he stated the event was well attended and thanked PTO for the funds to buy the books. He shared that the Young Author’s Contest Winners will be honored at a brief ceremony on May 12th.

Old Business

1. Spring Book Fairs are coming up:

a. Madison/Reagan - 4/28-5/6

b. Jefferson – 5/2-5/6

2. Spring Teacher Luncheon will be held Tuesday, May 3rd. Please deliver your items to your child’s school on that morning.

3. Eighth Grade Promotion and Dance will be held Monday, May 23rd. The Promotion ceremony will be from 6:30-8:30 pm in the DHS Gymnasium and the dance will follow at RMS after the promotion ceremony ends until 10 pm.

4. Discussion of suggestion to have teachers (rather than school reps) arrange parental help for class parties. We discussed having a sign up sheet at Back to School night in the classrooms. Principals will get teacher input and decide.

New Business

1. Fundraising Ideas presentation. Kara Newcomer and Laura Ely presented information on various options for fundraising efforts for next school year. We also discussed possible dates for the fall fundraiser.

Funding Requests VOTED ON at the meeting

1. APPROVED: Eighth Grade parents requested up to $750 for the 8th Grade Promotion dance costs. Funds will cover food, decorations, and a Deejay.

2. APPROVED: First grade teachers requested $2344 for the fall field trip to Jonamac Orchard in September 2016. Funds will cover bus transportation and admission.

Funding Requests presented for a future vote

1. Washington School teachers are requesting $3,000 to have Theatre Works USA, a New York children’s theatre company, come to perform Miss Nelson is Missing for the pre-K, K, and 1st grade students in two shows in Spring 2017. We will vote on this request in August 2016.

Open Discussion

1.PTO Positions for 2016-2017 school year were discussed. Please contact PTO leadership if you are interested in serving in a PTO position for next year.

2.School representatives’ duties were discussed and it was proposed that we have each teacher put a sign up sheet at Back to School Night to let parent/guardian volunteers sign up to manage the Room Parties for the class. This plan would mean that school reps would no longer assign a ‘Head Room Parent/Guardian’ as parents/guardians would sign up themselves for which party they would like to organize or help coordinate. We also discussed electronic alternatives for signing up for/reminding parents about bringing items to each party. Principals will take this idea back to the teachers for their input and discussion before a decision is made at the next meeting

February 22, 2016

Vice-President Crystal Terviel called the meeting to order at 7:01 pm.

There were eight members present: Crystal Terviel, Brenda Brown, Sue Nag, Kara Newcomer, Vanessa Ankney, Brandi Snyder, Phyllis Houck, and Laura Ely.

Treasurer’s Report: There was no new treasurer’s report available for this meeting, but Crystal Terviel reviewed the current balance and all outstanding expenses for spring and fall that PTO is planning on funding.

Old Business

1. Limited Butter Braids are available for purchase. Contact Carol Jimenez.

2. Movie Night was held on January 29, 2016 at Dixon High School Auditorium. There was a great turn out for this event. PTO would like to give a special Thank You to Mr. Gould, Mr. Sagel, and Mrs. Lauer for their help in making Movie Night a success!

3. Spring Fundraiser ends 2/26/16 with PICKUP on 3/17/2016.

New Business

New Funding Requests

1. No new funding requests were submitted. Mrs. Houck did present information about a future request for funds for an author workshop visit. She stated teachers would be doing a Culver’s teacher night to raise money for this expense and they would be asking PTO for some funds as well.

Fundraiser co-chair Kara Newcomer and members present discussed different ideas for fundraisers for next year.

Dixon Public Schools PTO Meeting Minutes

November 16, 2015

Vice-President Crystal Terviel called the meeting to order at 7 pm. There were eight members present: Crystal Terviel, Brenda Brown, Laura Ely, Sue Nag, Kara Newcomer, Darla Foulker, Crystal Thorpe, and Joey Sagel.

Treasurer’s Report: A report was presented at the meeting. Fundraiser costs and payments for field trips have not yet been withdrawn from the account.

Principals’ Report: Mr. Sagel reported that teachers are volunteering this week for McTeacher’s Night at McDonald’s as a fundraising opportunity for the schools; teachers help serve and McDonald’s donate 20% of the sales of food for that evening to the schools. Ms. Thorpe reported that the first Turn Off the TV and Read program went well. There were 145 participating students and she hopes to have even more for the next program in December. Ms. Kingery’s class had the most participants with 17 students.

Old Business

1. Fall Fundraiser: PICK UP of fundraiser items will be on Thursday, November 19, 2015 from 1:30-6:30 pm in the Jefferson Gym. Volunteers are still needed to sort and distribute that day starting at 8 am through 6:30 pm.

2. Spirit Wear was delivered and sent home with students. We do have extra items for sale for Holiday needs.

New Business

1. Movie Night is tentatively scheduled for 1/29/2015 at Dixon High School. PTO will be showing the movie ‘Inside Out’. Doors will open at 6 pm and movie starts at 6:30 pm. Popcorn and water will be available for $1 each. One school representative from each school is asked to be present to help. Admission will be free.

2. Mr. Sagel reported that Madison teachers will not be requesting PTO funds for the fifth grade students field trip. Students will participate in a local Ag Day event that has a minimal cost.

Funding Requests Voted on at the meeting:

1. APPROVED $4500 for 6th grade field trip to the Science and Industry Museum in Chicago. Funds will be used for charter buses.

New Funding Requests (will be voted on in future meetings)

1. There were no new requests for PTO funds.

Open Discussion

1. Crystal Terviel reviewed the mission of the Dixon PTO and stated the main purpose of the organization is to fund field trips. She reviewed the current finances and treasurer’s report and reported on the pending withdrawals from the PTO bank account. We discussed year-to-year operating expenses and the goal that each year’s fundraising efforts must cover the field trips for the following year.
