8TH GRADE STUDENTS AND PARENTS- Tonight, Wednesday March 20th at 6:00pm in the RMS cafeteria, 8th grade students and their parents are invited to a presentation by DHS and RMS administration that will focus on the results of the PSAT 8/9 assessment that was taken this past Winter. Students will be provided their PSAT 8/9 score reports from the assessment on this night and information regarding how to read these reports and how DHS will use this information will be discussed. In addition, Administration will introduce access to your child’s College Board accounts and how important information can be viewed. At the conclusion of the meeting, interested parents can stay for an additional discussion regarding the 8th grade promotion dance that will be held on June 6th. RMS DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT! The annual RMS Dodgeball Tournament is coming up Thursday, April 11th at 6pm in the RMS gymnasium. Cost is $16/team and all proceeds go to the PE department and the Strong Kids Campaign. Teams may consist of 6-10 players and may be coed. See the attachment or come to the main office for information and sign-up sheets!
DIXON GIRLS FASTPITCH will have another registration day for 1st –8th grades on Saturday, March 23rd from 9am-1pm at the Dixon YMCA. If you can’t make it that day, registrations will be accepted through April 7th.
The KSB Elevator Door Design Contest has started again this year. All entries will need to be turned in by April 16th to Mrs. Conklen. Entries must be done on the template provided. Please see your homeroom teacher or Mrs. Conklen for a copy of the template. There will be 4 winners chosen and their designs will be printed out and made to fit an elevator door at KSB Hospital for 1 year! The theme of your design should be Health and Wellness. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Conklen!
PARENTS- RMS students has been taking the Illinois Assessment of Readiness. 6th grade students were assessed between March 11th-14th, 7th grade between March 14th-18th and 8th grade will be this week between March 18th-21st. Please see the attached assessment information and letter and from Mr. Bullock.
PARENTS OF 8TH GRADERS: Freshman school physical packets have gone home with students. PLEASE OBTAIN PHYSICAL AND IMMUNIZATIONS BEFORE THE 1ST DAY OF HIGH SCHOOL! Now is a great time to schedule your child's doctor appointment.
DHS Football Cheerleading Tryouts will be held April 8-10th. See the attached packet or stop in to the main office to pick one up.
Reminder that there are to be NO HATS OR HOODS worn inside the building at any time!
STUDENTS- Remember that before, during and after school hours you are to be courteous and respectful of the people and properties around us. Let’s be good neighbors to those that live around RMS!
SAFE SCHOOL HELPLINE- The safe school helpline is a 24/7 communication service that empowers school administrators to make proactive decisions as well as creating responsibilities for students, parents and community members to share in the maintenance of a safe learning environment. The service provides children with the opportunity to anonymously report wrongdoing, bullying and negative issues that would impede the learning process. The safe school helpline has proven itself to be a very effective tool in preventing and deterring negative acts and practices from occurring in over thousands of schools. Please see previous attachments or stop in the main office to get more information and access this important reporting tool today!
PARENTS- If your student is riding the bus home with a friend OR if your student is having a friend ride home with them, bus notes are needed! BOTH PARTIES are to have a note signed and dated by a parent saying who is going home with whom. Students need to bring both notes to the main office to be signed.
PARENTS/STUDENTS – Homework Club has started back up and it runs after each full school day from 2:15-3:00. Homework Club will NOT be held on ½ days or early release days. Please stop in or call your counselor to get signed up! Students in Homework Club need to arrange a ride for pick up at 3:00 at door #1. Mrs. Mills will run Homework Club again this year and is a great asset in assisting students with understanding/finishing work and general student organization!
STUDENTS – 6th, 7th, 8th graders all enter thru Door #8 for breakfast, to enter for the day and to leave at the end of the day. In the morning you will enter through Door #8 and wait in the gym until the bell rings (same as last year). If you are coming to school late (after 7:45 a.m.) due to tardiness or being at an appointment, you must enter thru door #1 to sign in and get a pass. RMS students are not allowed in the Madison wing.

Choir Rehearsals – 6th grade T/TH, 7th/8th grade M/W/F - both meet during the first lunch period and then you have lunch during the second lunch period on those days
GLEE CHOIR- meets every Tuesday, 2:30-3:30pm. Everyone beginning on Feb. 26th. Please make arrangements to always be there. (The Glee Choir members list is posted on the choir room door.)
