Remote Learning Update

This is Margo Empen, Superintendent of Dixon Public Schools providing you with a Remote Learning update.

The Illinois State Board of Education has given schools the opportunity to take advantage of five Remote Learning Planning Days.  DPS #170 will be utilizing Friday, April 10, 2020 as its third remote planning day.  This means that staff will be planning and preparing for their upcoming Remote Learning Day lessons, and students will not have to complete remote learning lessons that day.  This is an excellent day for students to read for enjoyment or access the learning resources we have provided on our app and social media pages.

You can access a PDF of the April Remote Learning calendar by clicking on the following link or copying and pasting it into your browser.  https://5il.co/evtf

Teachers are working extremely hard right now to keep up with the changes and demands of Remote Learning.  These planning days will give our dedicated staff time to plan, collaborate, and prepare the next 14 days of remote learning.

Packet #1 became available on Thursday, April 2, 2020 and provides work through Tuesday, April 21, 2020.  All work from packet #1 must be returned to schools by 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2020.  All online learning for this time frame must also be completed and turned in online on Friday, April 24, 2020.

Beginning on Monday, April 20, 2020, packet #2 and the second round of online materials will be available.  Parents or students can pick-up packets from 7:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. beginning Monday, April 20, 2020.  These packets and online learning will contain 14 days of learning that will take students through Monday, May 11, 2020.  If schools are able to reopen or are still closed on May 11, 2020, we will provide you further instructions at that time.

Please contact your building principal or the District Office if you have any questions.
