Stuff to Know
Congratulations to Keegan Shirley, Dixon High School’s Student of the Month for April!
Manufacturing Day Field Trip – Sophomores, if you're interested in the Manufacturing Day Field trip, now is the time to sign up in the Guidance Office. The deadline to sign up and return the permission slip is Wednesday, 4/22. The field trip is on Friday, 4/24. Academic eligibility will be considered, so you must be passing at least 5 classes to attend.
SWAP– SWAP Registration is now open. Visit Athletic Office for more information.
Prom Tickets –Miami Style prom tickets will be on sale April 20-May 1 in the cafeteria at lunch. Tickets are $60. Prom is May 9. Guest passes are in the Main Office.
2nd Chance Dress Closet - DHS Prom is fast approaching! In need of a dress and don't have the time to shop? We have a closet full of dresses to shop that are free for you to use. See Mrs. Hopper in the main office to set up a private appointment for you to come and take a look.
SVCC Jump Start - We’re excited to share that Jump Start registration for Sauk Valley Community College opens March 9! Jump Start is our guided registration opportunity for high school seniors who plan to attend Sauk beginning Summer or Fall 2026. This event gives new students the chance to register for classes early and get set up for a smooth transition to college. Jump Start 2026 Dates: April 10, 17, 24 — Sessions run 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM (last appointment begins at 1:00 PM) & April 14 — Sessions run 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM (last appointment begins at 5:00 PM). Baccalaureate - Any seniors interested in participating in the Baccalaureate service for the Class of 2026 are invited to attend a meeting in the Tech Zone classroom during advisory on Thursday, April 23rd. Check your email for more information about Baccalaureate. Please see Mr. Gruber if you have any questions.
DHS Art Exhibit - Dixon High School is proud to announce its first student art exhibit where all students are invited to share their artwork. Held in the main lobby of the high school on April 30th from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, this event aims to display the creativity of the student body. Whether you want to share a favorite project from art class or something you’ve made outside of school, we invite you to share any type of artwork you would like to display! To sign up, scan the QR code on the flyers around the school or on the Dixon schools Instagram and fill out the registration form. The deadline to sign up and bring art in is April 24th.
Summer Legislative Internship Program – State Representative Bradley J Fritts’ Internship Program is a selective program that will provide high school and college students the opportunity to experience state legislative work. The program is June 1-July 31, 2026. Applications must be received by April 24, 2026. To apply, please email repfrittsstaff@ilhousegop.org.
Music Boosters Mattress Sale - The DPS Music Boosters are hosting a mattress sale on Saturday, May 2nd from 10am-5pm in the Reagan Middle School Gym. Proceeds from this fundraiser will be used to support the music programs at RMS and DHS. If you are in the market for a new mattress, pillows, or other bedding, please come out! Thank you for your support!
🎓 Athletic College Signing Day Announcement – May 6, 2026 🎓- Join us as we celebrate an exciting milestone for our student-athletes on Athletic College Signing Day, happening Wednesday, May 6, 2026! This special event recognizes the hard work, dedication, and achievements of our athletes as they take the next step in both their academic and athletic journeys.
📅 Date: Wednesday, May 6, 2026
📍Location: Lancaster Gym (After Award Ceremony)
⏰ Time: 7pm
Important Details for Participants: Sign up in the Athletic Office to reserve your spot. Each student-athlete who signs up will be provided with a table & chairs for their parents/siblings. Participants are responsible for decorating their table the night of the event—get creative and represent your future college! Student athletes are encouraged to wear apparel representing their future school. Family, friends, and staff are all invited to attend and celebrate as these athletes officially sign their commitment. 🎉 We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
Senior Picnic – Seniors, join your classmates for a Senior Picnic May 20, after graduation practice, on the DHS greenhouse lawn. Come relax, have fun and enjoy your final moments at DHS. Hotdog lunch and yard games provided.
