Playground Graphic

The Lee County Health Department has notified us that it is ok to allow the students to play on playground equipment.  Yahoo!  The CDC has stated that transmission of COVID-19 by touching objects is uncommon.  According to the CDC guidance:

COVID-19 spreads less commonly through contact with contaminated surfaces

  • Respiratory droplets can also land on surfaces and objects. It is possible that a person could get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or eyes.
  • Spread from touching surfaces is not thought to be a common way that COVID-19 spreads

We are excited to reopen our playgrounds since the benefit to the students is presumably much greater than their risk of getting COVID from the equipment. The building custodians will spray down of the equipment at the end of each day.  Students will be required to wear a mask while on the equipment unless social distancing can occur. Teachers will ensure hand washing or sanitizing takes place after being on the playground.

This is another step forward in our return to normal.  Playgrounds will be open for business no later than Wednesday, April 14, 2021.  Please contact your building principal with any questions.
