Parents,

In our continuous evaluation of our communications processes, we want to let our community know what we are doing do facilitate better communication, and what you can do to make sure you get communications in a timely fashion.

One of the tools we commonly use to get information out is through phone calls. These mass calls are typically called automated or robo-calls, and are one of the fastest ways we have to get information out. The downside is that automated calls are usually identified by cellular phone carriers as “potential spam” calls. There are a few steps we can take to help these calls get through and have them show up more clearly on caller ID as school calls.

What you can do to help is to place the phone number assigned for district calls in your contact list on your cell phone. That will help calls to appear more clearly on your caller ID. The number we use is 815-285-4202. You can enter that number into your contact list and name it “Dixon Public Schools”.

Another step we are taking is to register our mass calling number with the major cell phone carriers so they can more easily identify us so they will be less likely to flag our calls as potential spam.

Together, we will continue to improve our communications and build a safer community.
