CEC Thank you Graphic

February 17, 2022

Dear Parents, Staff, Students, and Community Members,

I would like to extend my sincere appreciation and thanks for the overwhelming amount of people who participated in our School Start Times Survey.  2,091 dedicated individuals participated in our survey which guided discussion at last night’s Board Meeting on how to proceed.  This was truly a community effort that is to be commended!

I would also like to thank the Community Engagement Committee (CEC) and the School Start Time Subcommittee for their work on this very important topic.  School Start Times has been an ongoing discussion within this committee for the last year and a half.  The committee members’ time, research, and input helped to make the survey and presentation a success.

At last night’s Board Meeting, the board members stated that they will not be changing start times for the 2022-2023 school year. They would like the CEC to continue their research and discussion on the most common themes shared in the survey, with a goal of learning the best ways we can partner with the community. The CEC will develop a plan to do that. The Board also acknowledged the issue of change fatigue, and realized that people are not eager for more change but want stability as a result of COVID.
