Dear Dixon Public School Families,

For the past couple of years, the federal government established programs that has allowed school districts across the country to offer free breakfast and lunch to all students. As the District continues to prepare for the 2022-23 School Year, we want to again remind families that the programs which offered free breakfast and lunch to all students have expired.

Breakfast and Lunch programs across the District will revert back to pre-COVID days. Students will need to purchase meals as in the past. Food selections will be altered back to hot meal serve with less prepackaged meals in bags. During the 2022-23 school year, families who do not qualify for free or reduced lunch will have to pay for school meals. Students whose families are eligible for free or reduced-price breakfast or lunch will need to process the application as in previous years and will then be able to access meals next school
year at no cost or a discounted rate.

Since this adjustment may create a financial burden on some of our families, we are writing to give you advance notice of this change. While this situation is out or our control, it is important to our Board of Education and district administration to support our families. At no point would we ever want any child to go hungry at school.

Thank you for all of your support this school year and we hope you had a great summer! If you have any questions, please contact Marc Campbell (mcampbell@dps170.org) or at (815) 373-4966.

Sincerely,
Marc Campbell
