This week’s RMS Spirit Award goes to Mr. Bary Rabbitt, a paraprofessional who consistently makes a meaningful impact at Reagan Middle School. Bary has a great rapport with staff and students and shows tremendous flexibility, whether he is supporting different grade levels, assisting in classrooms, or stepping in to work with individual students when needed. He is a steady and positive role model for our middle schoolers and a dependable teammate for our staff. Bary shows up each day with patience, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to helping students grow, and we are grateful for everything he brings to RMS!!! #BePurple

This week’s Spirit Stick winner is Mrs. Lani Rogers, one of our outstanding P.E. teachers here at RMS. Mrs. Rogers plays a key leadership role within the P.E. Department, helping to guide planning, support her colleagues, and ensure that every student’s needs are met. She works hard to make physical education engaging and enjoyable for all students, creating activities and resources that are both inclusive and purposeful. Mrs. Rogers brings a consistently positive attitude to school each day and is always willing to step in and lend a helping hand wherever it’s needed. She not only looks out for students’ well-being but also takes initiative to design new ideas, routines, and structures that support their success. Her dedication, energy, and willingness to go above and beyond do not go unnoticed. We are incredibly fortunate to have Mrs. Rogers as part of the RMS family. Thank you, Mrs. Rogers, for everything you do!

Community agencies unite for mass casualty drill to enhance emergency preparedness

DIXON, Ill. | December 1, 2025 – Multiple community organizations joined forces today to conduct a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) drill designed to strengthen emergency preparedness and ensure the safety of residents in Dixon and surrounding areas.

The exercise included OSF HealthCare Saint Katharine Medical Center, Dixon Public Schools, Dixon City Fire, Dixon Rural Fire, Dixon Police Department, Lee County Sheriff's Department, Lee County 9-1-1 Center, Lee County Health Department, and CGH Medical Center. Together, these agencies practiced a coordinated response to a simulated large-scale emergency, testing communication, resource sharing and patient care protocols.

“Our shared goal is to be proactive rather than reactive if an emergency should arise," shared Margo Empen, Dixon Public Schools district superintendent. "This type of training is critical because it ensures we can respond quickly and effectively."

The drill reflects the commitment of local organizations to work collaboratively in preparing for potential disasters, reinforcing that community safety is a top priority.
